A Former Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Olusanya Awosan, has blamed the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, for the crisis rocking the party.
According to Awosan, the platform which Atiku is contesting in 2023, was destroyed by him in the past.
Awosan said if some people did not decide to stay back in the party to put things in place, would the former Vice President have a party to return to?
He condemned Atiku for not showing a sign of leadership after clinching the presidential ticket of the party.
The PDP chieftain accused Atiku of not being magnanimous in his victory during the presidential primary of the PDP.
Awosan stated this during an interview on Channels TV on Thursday morning.
He also condemned the PDP governors for taking the step to make Iyorchia Ayu the national chairman of the party.
Awosan lamented that the governors should have left Ayu silent and not wake him up from his political retirement to come and be the chairman.
He added that during a discussion with Doyin Okupe, he informed him that PDP governors have made the mistake of appointing Ayu.
There had been called by the camp of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike for Ayu to resign from office ahead of the 2023 race.
The camp of the former vice president, however, has insisted that Ayu would remain in office.
Atiku on Wednesday claimed that the main opposition party has to review its constitution to remove Ayu from office.
