The PUNCH: Amid a projection by the Federal Government to spend a whopping sum of N6.7tn on fuel subsidy next year and a major shortfall in government oil revenue this year, economic and energy experts have predicted tougher days ahead for the economy, states and Nigerians.

The Guardian: Hard times are already here for the Federal Government, hard, as its debt servicing exceeded retained revenue by as much as N310 billion in the first four months of 2022. This is the first time the country’s debt service to revenue ratio would hit or exceed 100 per cent.

Vanguard: THE camp of the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, reiamed adamant last night, despite accusations that his party invited ‘fake’clergies to the unveiling of Senator Kashim Shettima as its running mate in the 2023 general elections.

This Day: Convinced that the prospects of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), might have scaled up after it won the governorship election in Osun State, last weekend, the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has said his colleagues in Rivers and Oyo States, Nyesom Wike and Seyi Makinde, as well as himself, had agreed to remain in the party.

The Nation: An outright ban on the use of motorcycles (Okada) and the suspension of mining are parts of fresh measures being considered by the Federal Government to curtail terrorism.The National Security Council rose from a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja yesterday with a resolution that a nationwide ban on motorcycle operations will cripple the movements of terrorists.

Daily Trust: The federal government has projected to spend N6.72 trillion on subsidy for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) otherwise called petrol for the 2023 fiscal year.
