Reason Terrorists Flogged Victims Of Abuja-Kaduna Train Attack Revealed

The reason terrorists subjected kidnapped victims of the Abuja-Kaduna train attack to severe beating has been revealed.

HausaToday learned that the terrorists subjected the kidnapped victims to torture due to the blockade of ransoms in exchange for some of the captives.

It will be recalled that a video showing terrorists flogging victims of the Kaduna-Abuja train attack surfaced online on Sunday morning.

In the video, the terrorists are seen vigorously flogging some of the victims kidnapped on the Kaduna-bound train on March 28, 2022.

The terrorists also threatened to kidnap and kill President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State.

The gunmen in the video also boasted that they would destroy the country, kill the remaining passengers in their custody and sell out the others.

One of the terrorists could be heard threatening to turn the area into an abattoir unless the Muhammadu Buhari-led government complied with their demands.

He also accused the federal government of lying about a negotiation committee and plotting to forcefully free the captives.

However, according to Daily Trust, the terrorists were angered by the action of the security officials who turned away the families of the victims who came to pay ransom for their loved ones.

It was learned that the families of the victims have agreed to a specific amount for ransom and also the terrorists have agreed to release another batch of the victims before the security officials blocked the deal.

The action of the government security agents was said to have angered the terrorists who beat up victims and threatened to sell them and kill others.

A victim filmed in the video clip, Mukhtar Shuaibu, confirmed the terrorists’ disenchantment over the blockade of the ransom.

“We don’t know what offence we have committed to the government of this country. We were born in this country. We have been here for 120 days, yet the government has been unable to rescue us. What is our offence to this country? Some of us were to be released recently but security agents blocked the access and refused to let our relatives come for us,” he said.

HausaToday reports that at least 20 of the 60 kidnapped victims have been released in batches after they each paid a ransom of N100m while over 40 victims remain in captivity.
