Former member of the National Assembly, Senator Shehu Sani has listed five people that can succeed President Muhammadu Buhari if the move to impeach him becomes successful.
HausaToday recalls that some senators of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) walked out of the plenary session last week Wednesday.
It was gathered that over ten legislators left the red chamber during the proceedings after Senate President Ahmad Lawan dismissed a resolution on security.
In a Point of Order, Senate Minority Leader, Philip Aduda had reminded the Senate of the motion passed following a closed-door meeting that lasted over two hours.
According to Aduda, the Senate was meant to discuss the subject of national security and the measures taken so far to combat the threat.
He also reminded his colleagues that they were meant to give the president an ultimatum to resolve the issues of insecurity and give an impeachment notice if the demands are not met.
HausaToday understands that the impeachment move by the opposition party members has received various reactions from political big wigs and citizens out of whom many described the move as dead on arrival.
Taking to his verified Twitter page on Tuesday (today), Senator Sani, who represented Kaduna North Central in the 8th national assembly, said Nigeria will have Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as the next president if Buhari’s impeachment was successful.
Sani explained further that Lawan and his Deputy, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege will respectively assume the position if the other is also impeached.
The former lawmaker went on to say that Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and his Deputy, Ahmed Idris Wase are other options if the others were also impeached.
Sani’s tweet reads: “If you impeach Buhari, you will have Osibanjo and if you impeach the two, then Ahmed Lawan. If you add Ahmed Lawan in the impeachment, then it will be Omo Agege.”
“Ahead is Gbaja and the Wase,” said Sani when questioned by a netizen about the next option after Osinbajo, Lawan and Omo-Agege.
