A former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, has said that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, should be jailed and not be contesting any election.
Speaking on Facebook Live on Sunday, Dokubo said Obi should be in jail for allegedly investing the funds of the Anambra State government while he was a governor in his family business.
The former militant leader criticized the former Anambra governor for alleging he invested the state funds in a family business, saying that the action is criminal.
“In a normal country, Peter Obi is supposed to be in jail for investing state money in a family business and failed,” he said.
This development comes days after Dokubo recently described the former Anambra Governor as a glorified “Yahoo Yahoo boy.”
He had urged Nigerians not to vote for Obi during the 2023 presidential election, saying that the LP Presidential candidate was not fit for the highest political office in the country.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Nasiru Ila as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives).
HausaToday reports that Ila’s appointment was made known in a statement on Sunday by the President’s media aide, Garba Shehu.
According to the presidential aide, the Chartered member of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, (ANAN), replaces Umar El-Yakub who has been appointed Minister by the president.
Ila, a product of Victory College, Alexandria and West London College, United Kingdom, was a successful businessman with interests in haulage, ginnery and tannery before his foray into politics.
In 2011 and 2015, he was voted into the lower chamber of the National Assembly as a member representing Tarauni Federal Constituency in Kano.
